Live: Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band @ The Echo, 12.03.08

Let's get it out of the way: Wolf Parade. Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band -- a Seattle act -- sure sound a lot like their Montreal peers, all fits and starts and yowling vocals. It's a good thing: Wolf Parade's own lineage goes back to Modest Mouse, of course, who we can trace back to the Pixies, and so on -- and in any case, I'm happy to hear an '08/'09 band playing this brand of music so forcefully. New camera looks great. What brand?
Oh, I was going to say every single picture looks unfocussed ...
but ok, what brand/model is it?
Canon 40D with a 50mm f1.4 lens.
Anon, we photographers like to call it "depth of field."
Nice, I'm looking to make the jump to digital (still using a 35mm/SLR). How much did that run you and did you purchase in store or online?

Some were taken with a borrowed Nikon D70 DSLR, which I really liked. However, I've never shot with a Canon.
I bought it on Amazon -- unless you go used, you'll find pretty much the same prices there and on B&H Photo, Abe's of Maine, etc. Don't buy it at Samy's or Ritz or anything, they're all overpriced.
